Frank Francis Ferrari

d. April 18, 2024

Frank Francis Ferrari, 81, of Millville, NJ, passed away on April 18, 2024. He was born in Avella, the youngest son of the late Angelo S. Ferrari and Maria Rosa “Rose” Dotto. A 1960 graduate of Avella High School, Frank was esteemed for his athleticism in football and wrestling. After graduation, he joined the Iron Workers Union Local #3 Pittsburgh, where he worked in the industry for nearly 40 years. Frank also served in the U.S. Army and was a member of the American Legion Post 643 in Avella. He was a member of The Parish of All Saints in Millville, NJ and the Knights of Columbus, Millville Council 1778. Known as “Fuzzy” to his fellow ironworkers, Frank was a loving husband and father who leaves a legacy of lively storytelling, hard work, belly laughs, and capturing life’s most cherished occasions and everyday moments on camera. He also leaves—quite literally—tissues in every clothing pocket and napkins in the glove box, a nod to one of his favorite sayings he passed on to his children, “It’s better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.” As the second youngest of 10 children, Frank was raised valuing thriftiness, understanding it doesn’t cost anything to be kind, and knowing that many hands make light work. Frank knew no strangers, only friends he hadn’t met yet. And when you met Frank, even if it was only once, he remembered you—one of the many superpowers his family admired about him. Frank is survived by his wife, Peggy (Sparrow); his children, Michael, Matthew (Karla), Frank, Jr. (Tonya), Tony (Deanna), Angie (Art), Dan (Breann), Désirée (Eli), Meagan, Tiffany, and Shannon (Dave); 13 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; his sister, Rose; and many loving nieces, nephews, and friends. Frank is preceded in death by his grandson, Devan; his brothers, Jim, Biggs, Mike, and Angelo; and his sisters, Mary, Gina, Nora, and Til. Arrangements are being handled by William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., of Washington, PA. The family invites you to honor Frank’s life with them on Monday, June 3, 2024, at 11:00am at St. Patrick’s Church in Canonsburg, PA followed by burial at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. In lieu of flowers, donations honoring Frank can be directed to a charity of your choice or Battlefield Addiction at 2250 Roosevelt Ave., Enumclaw, WA 98022, a cause deeply cherished by Frank.
