Francis Henry Baker, 88, of Washington passed away on May 13, 2024, in The Donnell House, with family at his side. He was born October 29,1935 in Coventry England, a son of the late Samuel and Edith Baler. He was the beloved husband of Nellie Kelley Baker, who survives. At 15, Frank joined the British Royal Navy as a boy seaman. He rose to the rank of Fleet Chief Warrant officer. At the time of his retirement in 1951, he was in charge of the seamanship school in Portsmouth, England. He returned to the United States and married the love of his life February 13, 1982. He was an active member of North Buffalo Presbyterian church. He especially loved taking part in cooking for congregation events and participating in Vacation Bible school. Frank was an expert on antique Vincent motorcycles, his favorite hobby. He traveled to every bike rally in North America, making many friends along the way. His love of motorcycles was second only to his love of people. Surviving are his children, Trevor (Mercia) Baker, Gavin (Tracey) Baker, Liz (Arthur) Chambers, Frances Baker; stepson, Kevin (Lucinda) Crain; 11 grandchildren; and 12 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a daughter, June; brothers, Richard (Mary), Peter (Annette), Paul; sister, Grace; and grandson, William Tiaby. Family and friends will be received at William G. Neal Funeral home 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 23, 2024. Service will be at 11 a.m. Friday, May 24, 2024, in North Buffalo Presbyterian Church. Internment at North Buffalo Cemetery.
