Frances Eudora Chambless Shawinski

March 2, 1925 — November 13, 2017

  Frances Eudora Chambless Shawinski, 92, of Washington passed away Monday, November 13, 2017 at her home. She was born March 2, 1925 in Americus, GA, the daughter of the late Christopher Columbus Chambless and Frances Eudora Williams Chambless. On May 23, 1943, she married Albert Shawinski, who died June 6, 1980. They met while Al was in the Army Air Corp in Americas GA. In 1944, Frances and Al moved to Washington to open a grocery store. Frances was employed by Foodland in the Floral Department on Jefferson Ave, until her retirement. Frances life revolved around her love for her family and her Christian faith. Her interest varied from oil painting to designing flower arrangements. Frances talent won her many awards and ribbons at the Washington County Fair. She also spent hours playing “Words with Friends” on her iPad and amazed her family with her competitiveness in spelling. Rarely could she be beat. She loved using her iPad for texting, Facebook and emailing her family. She saved over 800 pictures on her iPad photo album. She enjoyed traveling and was with her family for weddings, graduations, birthdays and sporting events. She was a very generous, compassionate mother, grandmother, great grandmother and friends. She was kindhearted with a great sense of humor. Frances laughter will be missed. Frances was a member of Allison Avenue Baptist Church, now named Abundant Life. She served as a deaconess and sang in the choir for 30 years. She enjoyed providing flower arrangements for her church and was involved in her church’s activities and always volunteered to assist others in need.  She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. Surviving are her son and daughter in law, Anthony (Tony) Shaw and Joy Good of Austin, TX; her daughter, Mary Frances Shawinski Gamble of Washington; nine grandchildren, Lisa and Jeff Ponder of Veedeersburg, IN, Brenda and Alan King of Washington, Jennifer and Ryan Wilson of Lexington, KY, Christy and Ricky Smith of Baton Rouge, LA, Christopher Shaw and Thomas Kirk of Austin, TX, Toni Shaw of Denver, Tracy and Sean Scotch of Plano, TX, Lesleigh and Jeffery Pierce of Richardson, TX, Haley and Will McKinney of Austin, TX; 15 great grandchildren, Tiffany and Sean Alexander, Sonja and Taner Eads,  Avery and Abram King, Alexis and Jordan Merchant, Reagan, Ryan and Rylee Wilson, Tony Shaw, Coleman, Presley, Alexis and Danny Coleman, Anthony “A.J.”, Joseph, Nicholas and Hannah Pierce, Molly, M.E., Macy Dash; two great great grandchildren born this year, Graylynn Eads, and Grayson Coleman. Preceded her in passing was her Father and Mother and sisters; Ruth Chambless, Emma Will Bishop and Grace Chambless; a brother, Grady Chambless. Friends will be received Friday, November 17, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. Services will be held Saturday, November 18, 2017at 1:00 p.m. at Abundant Life Baptist Church, 269 Cameron Rd, Washington with Pastor George Garancosky officiating. Burial will follow at Washington Cemetery.
