Estella Mary Land Cochran, 101, passed away Friday, September 20, 2024, in Southmont Presbyterian Senior Care, Washington. She was born December 27, 1922, in Tyre, Allegheny County, daughter of the late Charles and Margaret Walsh Land. Estella was predeceased by her beloved husband, Eugene A. Cochran, whom she married on January 8, 1945. She attended Canonsburg High School and Langley High School in Pittsburgh. Estella was a receptionist in hospitality for many years, also working as a housekeeper at the Red Roof Motel, and Madigan’s Book Store in Washington. During WWII, she worked at Armstrong Cork Factory making shell casings. She was a longtime member of St. James Parish. Estella loved playing bingo, painting birds and animals, country music, and going to dinner with her niece, Linda Mayou. She really enjoyed going to the Casino. She is survived by her loving son, Larry E. Cochran (the late Phyllis); grandson Loren E. Cochran (Carrie); great-grandchildren Tyler, and Austin (Sugeily) Cochran; and many nephews and nieces. Deceased, in addition to her husband and parents, are brothers Richard, Charles and Peter Land, and sisters Eunice Stoker, Madelyn Land, June Gardner and Helen Chauvet. Friends and family will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, September 24, 2024, in William G. Neal Funeral Home, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where a Blessing Service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2024, with Father Ed Yuhas officiating. Interment will follow at Forest Lawn Garden, McMurray.
