Erin Elissa Calvert Scalzi, 52, of Strabane, formerly of Claysville, died Wednesday, October 6, 2021, in the critical care unit of The Washington Hospital. She was born December 19, 1968, in Washington Hospital, a daughter of Raymond L. and Elaine H. Calvert of Washington. Erin was a graduate of McGuffey High School and attended West Virginia University where she studied business administration. She was employed by the Washington Health System until poor health forced her to resign. Erin loved shopping days with her daughter, date nights with her fiancé, watching British mysteries with her parents, and teasing back and forth with her sister and brother-in-law. She enjoyed any time spent with family and close friends, reading, listening to the music of Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, and Sammy Davis, Jr., baking, corresponding with family and friends, being outdoors in the sunshine and the beach in Cape May, New Jersey. Surviving, in addition to her parents, are her fiancé, James Thompson; her daughter, Camerin Scalzi, both of Strabane; her sister, Elena Korte (Bill); nephews, Derek Korte (Ashley) and Deven Korte (Tori); great-nephew, Elias Korte, all of Washington; and James’ daughters, Lauren and Sera Thompson, both of Sharon, PA. Erin is also survived by several much-loved aunts, uncles and cousins. The family is grateful for the compassionate care Erin received while a patient in the critical care unit of The Washington Hospital. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
