Elsie June Selvaggi, 98, of Washington died March 28, 2024, in The Washington Hospital, surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 4, 1925, in Washington, a daughter of Herbert and Mary Nixon Polan. Mrs. Selvaggi attended Trinity High School. She worked at F.W. Woolworth’s until becoming a homemaker. She was a member of the Christian Church of North America, where she had been a deaconess and had taught Sunday School for over 40 years. She also was a member of the Women’s Fellowship, and formed and oversaw the prayer chain for many years. Mrs. Selvaggi enjoyed playing with her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandson, Carter. On August 18, 1946, she married Camillo Selvaggi, who died October 25, 1984. They were happily married for 38 years. June is survived by her daughter, Rebecca Engle; granddaughter, Christy (Kevin) Pollana; grandson, Brian Engle; great-grandchildren, Kristly (Brett) Barnickel, Cameron Pollana, Kyle Pollana, Emily Engle, and Tommy Engle; great-great grandson, Carter Barnickel, all of Washington; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by six brothers, Robert, Herbert, James, George, Herman, and Melvin. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, April 4th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, April 5th, with Pastor Rob Berk officiating. Burial will be private in Washington Cemetery.
