Elizabeth M. Hamilton

Elizabeth “Libby” M. Hamilton, 94, of Washington, died May 20, 2021, in her home at Woodside Place. She was born April 2, 1927 in Buffalo Village, a daughter of Walter I. and Margaret McElroy McCrerey. Mrs. Hamilton graduated from Trinity High School in the Class of 1945. She worked in McCann’s and in the Bookkeeping and Proof Dept. of the Washington Union Trust Co., Washington Hospital Hospitality Shop, and 14 years as a receptionist and office manager for Drs. Morton & Webb. She also did modeling for Phyllis Fashion for 11 years. Mrs. Hamilton enjoyed knitting and ballroom dancing. She was a member of Upper Buffalo Presbyterian Church for over 70 years, and the choir since she was 18 years old. She served as trustee of the session and different committees in the church. On August 3, 1951, she married Jay L. Hamilton, who died October 17, 1973. Surviving is a daughter, Beth Ann Hamilton Young, of Portland, Oregon; grandchildren, Kevin J. (Carly Groves), and Andrew I. (Sarah) Hamilton; step-grandson, Christopher Young; great-grandchildren, Wyatt Groves, and Isaac Morgan Hamilton; sister-in-law, Patricia McCrerey, of Amity; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Robert & Phyllis Hamilton of Claysville. She was predeceased by her son, Jay Bradford Hamilton, deceased August 22, 1988; three brothers, Robert W., James D., and Richard L. McCrerey, who died in infancy, and a sister, Barbara Louise Claypoole. Friends will be received on Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at 1-3 pm and 5-7 pm, in William G. Neal Funeral Home, with services on Thursday, May 27, 2021 at 11 am, with Elder Judy Mayer officiating. Followed by burial in Upper Buffalo Cemetery.
