Joy Walker, age 83, died September 4, 2021, at Sunrise Senior Living, after a long and courageous battle with Alzheimer's disease. Joy was born August 1, 1938, in Clemenceau, Arizona to her late parents Clarence Edward and Gertrude Smith, preceded in death by her brother Tim and sister Jan, and survived by her brother Terry. She was the beloved wife of the late Cecil “Randall” Walker; loving mother of Eric Walker, Lisa (Greg) Hester, David (Lisa) Walker, and the late Steven Walker; proud grandmother of Abby, Joey, Michael, Ben and Ryan. Joy graduated from Denton Senior High School, Class of 1956. Following graduation, she graduated from North Texas State University with a Bachelor of Science in Marketing in 1960, receiving an honor of "The Most Outstanding Marketing Student", where she met her sweetheart and future husband Randall. They celebrated 59 years of marriage in June of 2019. She enjoyed gardening with her husband, sewing, singing, and playing bells in her church. Joy also enjoyed canning foods grown from her garden including green beans, pickles, beets, salsa, relish, jams and jellies, peaches, and pears. She also enjoyed growing blueberries, rhubarb, and many vegetables for freezing. She was quite the cook and cookie baker. Joy was well known for making amazing pies for her church bake sales and for her family. She was a devoted member of Trinity United Methodist Church for 46 years where she taught Sunday School, served as the treasurer, offering steward and on altar guild, and volunteered her time in many other capacities where she will be missed dearly. She was an amazing supportive mother, avid bowler, enjoyed being social and spending time in church clubs and activities, patient, loving, and a true disciple of our Lord. She lived her life with a strong sense of responsibility for her family and her church, a beautiful loving smile, and was a cornerstone of safety and assurance for all of her children. A celebration of her and her husband’s lives will be held Saturday, September 18th 11am at Trinity United Methodist Church in McMurray, PA.
