Doris Mae Barney, 87, of Washington, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, January 24, 2018, in her home. She was born on August 11, 1930, in Lancaster, OH, a daughter of the late Theodore Roosevelt and Iva Mae Cave. A graduate of Hickory High School, she was a member of Avery United Methodist Church. Her greatest joy was spending time with her husband, who took care of her. Doris was a homemaker, and she enjoyed shopping. Her husband, Lester L. Barney, also died on January 24, 2018. They had just celebrated sixty-six years of marriage in August. Surviving are three children, Deborah D. (Russ) Riffle, of McClellandtown, Jerry L. Barney, of Orrville, OH, and Bonnie Barney Young, of North Palm Beach, FL; a sister, Melda McDonald, of Canonsburg; five grandchildren, Dena Weimer, Dori Bowlen, Darci Griffith, Branden Barney, and Angela Shetler; eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Deceased are several siblings. At the request of the deceased, there will be no public services. Arrangements are entrusted to the William G.
