Donald D. Carl, Sr., 75, of Washington, died July 15, 2021, at his home. He was born September 21, 1945, in Washington, the son of the late Erwin and Anna McCalmont Carl. Don graduated from Avella High School and was retired from Yellow Freight Trucking. He was a member of Teamsters Union #585 and #249 and American Legion Post #175. Don served his country during the Vietnam conflict in the United States Army. On September 24, 1966, Don married Mary J. McCullough, who survives. Also surviving is a son, Donald D. Carl, Jr of Bentleyville; daughters Traci Sims (Clark) of Lone Pine, and Christine Brown (Frank) of Washington; brother James “Fred” Carl (Donna) of Pickerington, OH; sister Norma Jean Kelso (the late Dave) of Avella; grandchildren Braden and Dane Carl, Tiffany Hoye (Shane), Kyle Sims, Kain and Raelee Brown; great-grandchildren Reagan and Kalan Hoye; and several nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his brother Robert “Edward” Carl. Friends will be received Sunday, July 18, 2021, 1:00 -3:00 p.m., the time of service, with military honors by American Legion Honor Guard Post #175, in William G.
