Dennis Wayne Standiford

Dennis Wayne Standiford, 69 of Washington, died Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the Donnell House. He was born September 16, 1948 in Washington, the son of the late Wayne M. Standiford and Jean Richey Standiford. Dennis graduated from Washington High School and attended California State College. He was veteran of the U.S. Army serving during the Vietnam War, where he received the National Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal. He also worked for the Department of Defense in the Army Security Agency while serving. Dennis worked at Crile machine and later Frazier Simplex, prior to starting his own business, known as Standiford Enterprises, which he maintained for 25 years. He was a fly fisherman, a photographer and a federal firearms dealer and a gunsmith. He had a wicked sense of humor and was known as crazy Uncle Denny to his nieces and nephews. Dennis was a member of Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church. On August 17, 1974, he married Deborah Johnson, who survives. Also surviving are a daughter, Abbie S. (Jason) Cox of Canonsburg; a brother, Bruce Standiford of Washington; a granddaughter, Madison Cox; three brothers in law, Robert Riggle of Washington, Merl (Patty) Johnson and David (Kathy) Johnson both of Avella and several nieces and nephews. Deceased is a sister, Karen Riggle. Friends will be received Friday, December 29, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, where services will be held Saturday, December 30, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be held at a later date at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies. Memorial contributions can be made to the Wounded Warriors or a Veteran organization of donor’s choice.
