Deborah Ann Chandler

August 27, 1955 — March 21, 2025

Washington

Deborah Ann Chandler, affectionately known as Aunt Deb, Deb, Debbie to many, was born on August 27, 1955, and departed this life on March 21, 2025. She was the beloved daughter of the late Lawrence “Bubbi” Chandler and Thelma Jane Chandler, who undoubtedly welcomed her home with open arms.

Debbie was a woman of warmth, humor, and unwavering love. She shared her life and heart with Michael Cain, her devoted partner. She was a proud mother to her daughter, Jodi Chandler, and a doting grandmother to Sasherae Wilson (Tyjuan) and Anania Girma. She also embraced her stepson, Michael Cain Jr., as her own and his children as her grandchildren, Keonna Washington, Michael Benjamin Cain the 3rd, Breona Cain, Ciara Cain, Kingston Cain, and Karleigh Cain.

She was one of eight siblings. She is preceded in death by her brother, Kenneth Anthony “Tony” Chandler. She leaves behind a legacy carried on by her siblings, Beverly Aku (Ayua), Lawrence Chandler, Ronald Chandler (Beth), Tracy Smith (Tony), Carol Price (Ramsey), and Deon Chandler (Jessica). Her love extended far beyond her immediate family, touching the lives of countless nieces, nephews, and community members who knew her as “Aunt Deb.”

Debbie had a heart bigger than life itself, always willing to lend a hand, share a funny moment, or offer a warm embrace. Debbie was known for her humor, generosity, and impeccable style, she found her greatest joy in cooking and baking for her family and friends in the community. Whether through her laughter, her humor, or her generosity, she left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

While we mourn her passing, we also celebrate a life well lived, life filled with love, family, and a generosity of spirit that will never be forgotten. Her memory will live on in the hearts of those who loved her, and her legacy will continue through the many lives she touched.

Family and friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., the hour of service Tuesday, April 1, 2025, in Friendship Baptist Church, 17 East Walnut Street, Washington, with the Rev. Richard White officiating. Interment will follow in Washington Cemetery.

May we all strive to carry forward her love, kindness, humor, and unwavering strength.

Rest in peace, Aunt Deb. You will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
