David Mark Stockdale

David Mark “Dusty” Stockdale, 72, of Prosperity, died October 31, 2023, in Allegheny General Hospital. He was born February 13, 1951, in Washington, the son of the late John Doyle and Mildred Kimberland Stockdale. A 1969 graduate of McGuffey High School, he continued his education at Penn State and the Washington Hospital School of Nursing. Dusty was a dairy farmer on his family farm with his father until 1986 and had an early career in tractor repair with Bull international in tractor repair for from 1974-1978. He had been a Volunteer Firefighter for Morris Township, Station 42 since 1972 where he spent 51 years in the department, 34 of them as the Chief. He also served as past President of the Fire Department. He was Morris Township Supervisor for two terms. He retired from Washington Hospital after 26 years in nursing. He was self-employed doing tractor repairs after his retirement, served as a past president of the Prosperity Cemetery Association, and was a past member of the Red Knights Motorcycle Club. On October 23, 1970, Dusty married Wendy A. Conn, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Christopher Lee Stockdale (Jennifer), of Washington, and Benjamin David Stockdale (Brandy), of Pensacola, FL; brothers, Doug Stockdale (Mary Ann), of Prosperity, and Patrick Doyle Stockdale (Cindy), of Prosperity; five grandchildren, Roman Alexander Stockdale, Daisy Margaret Stockdale, Syngin Stockdale (Kayleigh), Jean-Luc Maske-Stockdale, and Jaiden Holloman; three great-grandchildren, Benjamin Joseph Stockdale, Dominick Dusty Stockdale, and Ellis Louise Stockdale; and numerous nieces and nephews. Preceding Dusty in death was a sister, Sandy Stockdale Nolan. He loved and appreciated dearly his neighbor, friend, and like-a-brother, Todd Patress (Dana and Jimmy). Memorial contributions may be made to Morris Township Volunteer Fire Department, 473 Sparta Road, Prosperity, PA 15329. Family and friends will be received Sunday, November 5, 2023, 2-4 pm and 6-8 pm, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA 15301, where the service will be held Monday, November 6th at 11 am with Pastor Steve Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Prosperity Cemetery.
