David T. Salser 1974-2024 David Theodore Salser succumbed to his battle with cancer on April 14, 2024, at his home near Washington, PA. He was born on March 27, 1974, in Oil City, PA to Teddy and the late Diane (Winger) Salser. He was 50 years old. David moved with his family to Brockway, PA in 1981. Brockway was always the hometown he would leave and return to throughout his life. Most people in Brockway knew David as Lou, a name bestowed on him when he was 9 years old which remained one of his aliases throughout his life. Lou was a graduate of Brockway Area High School. It was during his high school years that he was active in the Boy Scouts of America, earning the rank of Eagle Scout and becoming the Lodge Chief of Ah’Tic Lodge #139- Order of the Arrow, with the lodge bestowing the Vigil Honor, the highest honor of the Order. As a youth and young adult in Scouting he worked on the staff of Camp Mountain Run in Penfield, PA. After college, Lou would go on to become the Scoutmaster of Troop 40 of Brockway, PA. He served Scouting in multiple other adult positions during the years. He earned recognition in the adult training Wood Badge program, as a graduate and staff member. He attended the National Scout Jamboree as a staff member and the World Scout Jamboree, volunteering at the rock-climbing facility. Lou attended Edinboro University, earning a bachelor’s degree in 2000. It was during his time in Edinboro when he then became known as Tiny, a name given to him as a member of the Edinboro Volunteer Fire Department. His service started lifelong affiliations as a First Responder, in the roles of EMT, Fire Fighter, and Paramedic. In addition to being a volunteer firefighter, Tiny went on to pursue certification as a paramedic at the University of Pittsburgh Center for Emergency Medicine, graduating in the inaugural class of the program. Later in his life, David would return to Brockway where he would continue as a volunteer firefighter with the Brockway Volunteer Fire Co. He worked as a commercial truck driver while continuing his support of the volunteer interests in his life, before moving to Washington, PA.
