David “Dave” John Caddies Jr., 77, of Bentleyville, passed away Monday, May 13, 2024, at the Donnell House, Washington, Pa. He was born June 23, 1946, in Pittsburgh, son of the late David John Caddies Sr. and Mary Emma Lawton Caddies. Dave entered the U.S. Navy on July 30, 1963, and was honorably discharged on September 21, 1967, serving his country during the Vietnam War. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal and Vietnam Service Medal with one bronze star. He drove a bus for the Port Authority for over 20 years. He was a truck driver for 10 years and ended his career as a CDL instructor. Dave was a member of the American Legion Hunt-Kennedy Post #639 of Claysville. He enjoyed racing and raced locally at the Pittsburgh Motor Speedway. He raced stock and limited late model cars. He loved NASCAR, fishing, and spending time with friends and family. On November 4, 1989, he married Sarah J. “Sally” McNamee Caddies, who survives. Also surviving are two daughters, Candice M. (Dan) Raab and Shelby J. (RJ) Kubacki; a sister, Dolores (Timothy) Hornfeck; two grandchildren, Richie and Sophia Kubacki; a stepbrother, Jack (Donna) McMurray; and numerous nieces and nephews. Deceased, in addition to his parents, his stepmother, Barbara Ursitz Caddies, a sister, Jean Wrathal; and a stepsister, Janet Marsh. A service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 22, 2024, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Robert Grewe officiating. Interment will follow at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Bridgeville.
