Cynthia "Cindy" Phllips Mccoy

June 5, 1963 — September 16, 2019

Cynthia “Cindy” Phillips McCoy, 56, died unexpectedly Monday, September 16, 2019 at Washington Hospital. She was born June 5, 1963 at Quonset Point Naval Air Station, Rhode Island, the daughter of the late Clive and Mary Teagarden Phillips. Cindy was a graduate of Grace Bible School in West Middletown. With quiet power of heart several sizes large, Cindy deeply affected the world around her. Just by virtue of being her grace-filled self, she touched countless lives. She embodied God’s love and grace in the form of her kind voice and genuine smile. It didn’t matter if you were at the beach, sitting in her classroom, or washing dishes with her in the parish kitchen: you would hear gentle, honest words from her extra-warm heart. She was utterly passionate about teaching kindergarten and taught kindergarten students in Christian education for 23 years. Besides her family, grandchildren and teaching, her other great love was cooking. Cindy was a member of Trinity Church and loved cooking for numerous church functions. She also loved and cared for a small army of plants, even taking ailing plants home and bringing them back to life. On June 4, 1983, she married John McCoy, who survives. Also surviving are her two children, Ashley and Amanda; three grandsons, Brycen, Wayden and Chanden; her nieces, Aubrey and Rachel; her nephews, Paul and Riley; her sister, Barbara; and her brother Jim. Friends will be received Friday, September 20, 2019 from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington. Services will be held Saturday, September 21, 2019 at 10:00 a.m. at Trinity Church, 550 S. Main St., Washington with Rev. Canon Karen Stevenson, Rev. Canon Tracey Russell and Rev. Jamey Russell officiating. Burial is private at Lafayette Cemetery.
