Clifford Knox, Jr., 75, of West Alexander, died Friday, January 4, 2019, in the Washington Hospital. He was born April 27, 1943, in Washington, a son of the late Clifford Knox, Sr., and Ruth Leonard Knox. Mr. Knox was a Vietnam veteran, serving in the Army from February 16, 1967, until his honorable discharge on February 14, 1969, with a rank of Specialist, 4th class. He was awarded the Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Marksmanship Badge for M-16 Rifle. Mr. Knox worked at Findlay Refractories for 30 years. A member of West Alexander Presbyterian Church, he enjoyed fishing, hunting, driving his ’57 Chevy, and attending car shows. Surviving are three daughters, Angel Thomas (Edward) of Washington, Jamie Cumer of West Alexander, and Michelle Knox of Washington; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. Deceased are a granddaughter, Hope, and a great-grandson, Karter. Friends will be received on Monday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m., Tuesday, January 8th, with Pastor Tim Florence officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery.
