It is with extreme sadness we announce the passing of Clara Bell “Pooch” Goughenour, at 93 years of age, on January 18, 2022, peacefully in her home. A bright flame will be missed by many, a fierce woman of strength and courage despite ongoing struggles and a lengthy illness battling cancer. Born on August 28, 1928, in Jefferson, Greene County, PA, daughter of the late Charles and Minnie Kelley Clemens, of Hickory, PA. Graduating from Hickory High School, she affiliated with Hickory United Presbyterian and the North Buffalo Presbyterian Church. Employment-wise "Pooch" had been a greeter at Sam’s Club and Walmart, a crossing guard for Fort Cherry School District many years, and she had also cooked at White’s Kitchen, Hickory. Her first husband Ralph Kennedy, passed in 1953. On November 5, 1955 she married Burl Goughenour who passed on September 7, 2006. She enjoyed spending time with her daughter, Peggy, being outdoors enjoying the sunshine, socializing, and (due to her limited vision) enjoyed listening to polka/classic country music, along with her favorite game shows on television. Clara enjoyed long drives and shopping with Peggy. A loving and caring woman, Pooch treasured time spent surrounded by her loving family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren Surviving are her daughter, Peggy Jo Goughenour-Andrews, of Cokeburg; two grandchildren, Cara Lynn (fiance, Anthony Byers) Andrews, of Washington, and Adam Eric Andrews (fiance, Michelle Do) of Sharpsburg; four great grandchildren, Zarena, Azalea, Zylas, and Zayvin. Clara greatly enjoyed time with her niece, Mary Etta Brager, of Brush Run and nephew, Gordon (Lori) Cooke. Preceding her in death are three daughters; Patricia Ann Kennedy Rogers, Janet Sue Kennedy Carter, and Clara Jane Goughenour; her son, Gary Lee Kennedy; and seven siblings, Beuhlah Allen, Betty Filauro, Russell Clemens, Mary Walters, Peg Grabski, and Helen Cooke. Services were all private, and held at the convenience of the family.
