Charles Richard “Dick” King, Sr., of Washington, died on November 12, 2023, in his home. He was born on June 6, 1945, in Washington, a son of the late Robert W. and Mabel A. Rossi King. Dick was a 1963 graduate of Washington High School. Mr. King grew up on a farm in Avella and moved to Washington when he was fifteen. A hard-working man, Dick held many jobs, including Howard Johnson, Diskay, Bartolotta’s Grocery Store, Nickles Bakery and Millcraft Products, until he opened Future-All, Inc. in 1979, which he ran successfully until 2017, when he retired and closed the business. Dick was a wrestling coach for his children in South Franklin through the 1970’s. He was also an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and shooting. He was a member of the Claysville Sportsman’s Club and the Golden Pheasant Club. Later in life, Dick developed a passion for flying, and became a pilot. Flying gave him so much joy. Dick could often be found at Angelo’s Restaurant with his wife, socializing with the staff and patrons. He truly never met a stranger. When you saw him approaching with that twinkle in his eye, you knew he was about to say something to make you laugh. His family was his greatest joy, and he loved being a very active part of his children’s, grandchildren’s and great grandchildren’s lives. On September 18, 1964, he married the love of his life, Becky Ann Grimm, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Charles Richard (Marissa) King, Jr., of Prosperity, Douglas W. (Jackie) King, of Washington and Christopher M. (Melissa) King, of Claysville; a sister, Nancy Horner, of Washington; 11 grandchildren, Charles Richard (Christie) King III, Michaela (Patrick) Bracey, Michan Mace, Mallory Mace, Nicole (Brian) Reeves, Ashley (Nathan) Tennant, Justin Miller, Josh Miller, Jake Miller, Kirsten King and Christopher M. “C.J.” King, Jr.; five great grandchildren, Liam, Arlo, Asher, Claira and Maddie; a sister-in-law, Linda King; a special friend, Raji Shuibat; as well as many nieces and nephews. Deceased are two brothers, Robert W. King and John W. King. Friends and family will be received on Wednesday, November 15, 2023, from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, where a service will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 16, 2023, with Eric Powell officiating.
