Carolyn “Sue” Dicks, 80, of Washington, went to be with the Lord July 4, 2022, at the Donnell House surrounded by her family. She was born July 7, 1941, in Parkersburg, WV, the daughter of the late Howard and Virginia Tanner Mace. Carolyn was a 1959 graduate of Washington High School. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church where she enjoyed singing in the choir and with a trio and was a part of outreach in so many ways. Carolyn was a very creative and artistic person. Always giving to others with her talents of baking, painting, and writing short stories. She loved animals, especially her dog, Finlee. She loved celebrating all holidays, her favorites being Christmas and her birthday. Christmas with dancing and games with special prizes. Decorations could be seen in every corner of the house. And every birthday, she made sure everyone knew it was in the near future with little notes all over the house. She was a woman of great love, and her grandchildren were her life. Carolyn poured her heart and soul into her family. Her creativeness, endless laughter, devotion, and positivity was infectious and unmatched. To have known her was to love her. Carolyn never met a person that she didn’t care for. Always trying to help everyone and anyone who was in need, and showing that compassion in a way unique to her. She made everything enjoyable, always special like only she could do. She put her fun spirited spin on everything, turning the most mundane tasks into an adventure. Moments that will be missed include Friday morning coffee, packed lunches with notes of affection inside and the best egg sandwiches ever. Through her salvation, the family can smile knowing she is walking with Jesus and singing in the heavenly choir. Joining in the beautiful sound, and hugging everyone who has passed before her. Even though she is no longer with them, she will continue to be the heart of her family. Living in each of them due to the unfounded example she set. The memories that create the biggest smiles, the loudest laughs, and the hardest tears will always include her. She will continue to live on in some of the best qualities her family has. On September 12, 1959, Carolyn married the love of her life, George M. Dicks, who survives. Also surviving are her sons, Joseph G. (Paula) Dicks, of Washington, and Mark D. (Tammy) Dicks, of Jefferson; daughter, Cindee S. (Keith) Hill, Rostraver Township; brothers, Harold Mace, of Washington, and John (Hilary) Mace, of Upper St. Clair; sister, Dian (Jim) Neyer; grandchildren, Katelyn (Will) Moore, Caleb Dicks, Chelsea Hillberry, Jordan (Ashlee) Dicks, Courtney (Matt) Hill, Lindsay Hill, Matthew (Shauna) Hill, Jay Hassler, Ethan Hill, and David (Nicole) Hassler; great-grandchildren, Keaton, Emma, Avery, Lainey, Cole, and Levi; and many nieces and nephews.
