Carolyn Kathleen Lyke McVay, 83, of Washington, died on December 30, 2021, in Canonsburg Hospital. She was born on March 5, 1938, in Washington, a daughter of the late William Edward and Helen Davidson Lyke. Carolyn was a 1956 graduate of Trinity High School. Mrs. McVay was the owner and operator of Carolyn's Ceramics, and she also managed the Washington High School Convenience Store. A devout Christian, who read her Bible daily, Carolyn was the past Matron of the Washington Eastern Star #409. She was very involved in helping her husband coach youth baseball and football, and was an artistic and creative woman, who was adept at many different crafts. On August 14, 1957, she married the love of her life, Richard Lee McVay, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Mark (Diane) McVay, of Mooresville, NC, and Randy McVay, of Washington; five grandchildren, Justin (Laura) Beveridge, Raun Ashlee (Sam) Hawk, Jordan Lee (Char) McVay, Kendra Rayne McVay, and Kristi (Mike) Phelix; six great grandchildren, Parker, Adissyn, Easton, Jesse, Wyatt and Tyler; and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind many wonderful friends. Deceased are two sisters, Mary Lou Henderson and Wilma McClay; and a grandson, Ryan Hopkins. A graveside service will be held at West Middletown Cemetery on Thursday, January 6, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. All planning to attend are asked to please meet at the cemetery.
