Carl N. Matteson, 66, of Washington, died Tuesday, February 22, 2022, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born October 5, 1955, in Washington, a son of Wanda Myers Lohmeyer and the late John A. Matteson. Mr. Matteson graduated from Trinity High School. A proud Vietnam War veteran, he served 13 years of active duty in the Air Force and 7 ½ years in the Air Force Reserves before retiring with a rank of Staff Sargeant. He enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren, and watching baseball and football, especially the Steelers. An avid outdoorsman, Mr. Matteson also enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. On February 16, 1979, he married his wife and best friend, Juanette J. Bobb, who survives. Also surviving are four children, Nicole (Dan) Combs of Atlanta, Georgia, Jason (April) Matteson of Mountain House, California, Jaymie (Jacob) Coffelt of Crofton, Maryland, and Amberia (John) Kaempf of Washington; three sisters, Eliza (Tom) Atchison of Avella, Judy Angelo, and Jo Ann (Wayne) Conklin of West Virginia; 12 grandchildren, Nick, Morgan, Hunter, Laylah, Dakota, Alorah, Logan, Brayden, Temprence, William, Benjamin and Journey; nieces and nephews; and very special camping buddies. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Sunday, February 27th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 a.m., Monday, February 28th, with Rev. Mike Singo officiating. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
