Carl "Eddie" Edward West, Jr.

A beautiful soul, Carl "Eddie" West, lost a mercifully brief battle with pancreatic cancer on Sunday, October 22nd. He was in his home where he wanted to be when he met Jesus face to face. He was 45 years old. He has no more pain. Eddie was married for 26 years to his high school sweetheart, Danielle West. They were married on March 1, 1997. Eddie and Danielle had four amazing children, Sarah, Noah, Hannah, and Micah. He is survived by his mother, Joan West. He was preceded in death by his father, Carl Edward West, Sr. Eddie had a giant family full of siblings and cousins and nieces and nephews, some by marriage and some by blood, but they were all family! He is sorely missed by every single one of them. Eddie loved nothing more than to be in his home, surrounded by his family, making jokes and drinking coffee or telling other people to be quiet. He enjoyed gardening, swimming in his pool, and working on cars -especially with his children. He could fix anything. He loved sports and Sports Talk Radio, to the dismay of anyone else riding in his car! Eddie spent several years working with youth, and cultivated lasting relationships with many of the young people he served. Eddie loved Jesus, and even during his battle, he said that if he did not survive, but his life still pointed to Jesus, that would be his greatest achievement. He was the facilities director of Hopewell School District, and he appreciated his team there. The world will not be the same without Eddie in it, but his memory will be in our hearts forever and ever. The lives he impacted will never forget him, so that keeps him here, just in a different way. A memorial gathering will be held in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington, on Friday, November 3, 2023, from 1 to 4 p.m. A memorial service will immediately follow at 4 p.m., with Jason Walker officiating.
