Candice Sue Fetty VanBriggle, 68, of Washington, passed into the arms of her Savior, Jesus Christ, on August 11, 2021, in Shadyside Hospital. She was born on May 17, 1953, in Washington, a daughter of Janet E. Rizak, of Washington, and the late Gene A. Fetty, Sr. On June 12, 1972, she married her high school sweetheart, Arthur VanBriggle, who survives. Candy's main passion was teaching young children and teens about the love and hope found in Jesus Christ. She was a much loved children's Sunday School teacher, a faithful worker with Release Time Bible program, and was known as "The Mailbox Lady" to those who did bible lessons through the mail. Candy loved being a camp counselor, and planting the seeds of the Gospel, in the hearts of many children. She also served the Lord through outreach ministries with her church, Christian Church of North America, and maintained many relationships at Central Assembly of God as well. Mrs. VanBriggle was an amazing woman of God, who shared Jesus with everyone she could. She was a gracious and caring woman, and was loved and cherished by her family, and all who knew her. Candy's joy in life was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Arthur VanBriggle, Jr.; a daughter, Jennifer (Jeff) Takash; a son, Joel (Gail) VanBriggle; three brothers, Robert (Lita) Fetty, Gene A. (MeLissa) Fetty, Jr., and Leonard (Mandy) Fetty; two sisters, Norma Maglione (Fetty) and Tami (Kurt) DeMarino; six grandchildren, Raina and Lily Koscho, Anthony and Emily VanBriggle, and Kayla and Cole Takash; and a great granddaughter, Autumn Joy, who always put a smile on Candy's face. She was preceded in death by a brother, Clark Hayes; her stepfather, John D. Rizak; and her beloved aunt Karen Bedillion. A Celebration of Life Service will be held on Wednesday, August 18, 2021, in Christian Church of North America, 605 Shirls Ave., Washington, PA. Visitation with the family will be from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. at the church, with service to follow at 6:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Christian Church of North America.
