Byron Evans Schrader, Jr.

Byron Evans Schrader, Jr., 74, of Washington, died August 5, 2021, in The Washington Hospital. He was born November 17, 1946, in Canonsburg, a son of Agnes Rehnberg Schrader of Eighty Four and the late Byron E. Schrader, Sr. A 1964 graduate of Bentleyville High School, Mr. Schrader served in the Navy from May 5, 1966, until his honorable discharge on November 26, 1969. He was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal and Fleet Marine Force Combat Operation Insignia. Mr. Schrader worked at Cooper Industries/McGraw Edison for 25 years. He also drove a school bus for Schweinebraten Bus Company. He loved the outdoors and hunting, fishing, and going to his camp. Mr. Schrader also enjoyed trapping, was a member of the Trappers Association, and was named “Trapper of the Year.” He was an avid Steelers and Penguins fan. Mr. Schrader was a member of American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175. On May 1, 1970, he married Joyce McDowell, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Eric (Lori) Schrader of Washington and Kenneth L. (Rebecca) Schrader of Mt. Lebanon; a brother, Kenneth J. (Mariko) Schrader of Virginia Beach, Virginia; four sisters, Virginia (Jeff) Rogers of Mt. Lebanon, Janice (Fred) Pennell of Counce, Tennessee, Karen (Bill) Sprowls of Scenery Hill, and Catherine Glad of Masontown; three grandchildren, Alexis Schrader, Kenneth L. Schrader, Jr., and Samuel Schrader; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Deceased are a sister, Patricia Tremel; brothers-in-law, William Tremel and Bernie Glad; and a nephew, Shawn Schrader. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., Thursday, August 12th, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, August 13th, with Rev. Dr. Kenneth Schott officiating. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township. Military rites will be accorded graveside by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
