Billy Joe Barr, 76, of Washington, died February 10, 2022, in his home. He was born October 15, 1945, in Wadestown, West Virginia, a son of the late Floyd and Florence Jackson Barr. A veteran, Mr. Barr served in the Army in the early 1960s, and was stationed in Germany. He was a barber and co-owner of Mercer’s Barber Shop. Mr. Barr loved John Deere tractors, doing yardwork, and spending time with his grandchildren. He also enjoyed playing guitar in the Gold Rush Band. On December 16, 1966, he married Barbara McCartney, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Billy Joe (Amy) Barr, Jr., of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma; a daughter, Brenda Pattison of Washington; a sister, Sue Hulbert of Washington; six grandchildren, Nicole, Katelyn, Justin, Lauren, Shelby, and Hannah; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Deceased are brothers, Charles Barr and Floyd Barr, Jr.; and sisters, Betty McCoy, Norma Barr, Alferetta Mercer, and Patty Slonker. At the request of the deceased, all services will be private followed by private burial in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
