Beverly "Janie" Jane Strauss, nee` Watzek, 75, of Washington, PA, peacefully transitioned to her next life on November 6, 2023. Janie was born on October 27, 1948, in Columbus, Ohio, to Charles A. and Hazel C. Watzek, and was one of eight children. She graduated from South High School in Columbus, Ohio in 1966. In May of 1974 she married Carl A. Thalhofer and they soon after relocated to Pennsylvania where they started their family and became members of the First Lutheran Church of Washington. She was a master seamstress, which led her to open her own awning company, Beverly's Awnings in 1998, which she and her late husband Jim operated until his death in 2013. Janie especially loved gardening and spending time with her family. She will be remembered for her strength, her spunk, her sense of humor and her love of family. Remaining to cherish Janie's memory are her loving children, Robert "Bobby" C. Thalhofer (Amelia) and Rachel Pochiba; grandchildren, Patience M. Thalhofer, Cooper A. Thalhofer and Brantley L. Thalhofer; great-granddaughter, Lyla G. Bush; siblings, Susan M. Thomson, Barbara L. Shafer (Larry) and David L. Watzek (Peggy), sister-in-law, Pamela K. Watzek; nieces and nephews, Bethany L. Widmayer, Jessica L. Widmayer, Brandi S. Thomson, Andrew Watzek (Allison), Erin Watzek, Thomas Watzek, Gina Johnson; and several great nieces and nephews. Preceding Janie in death are her spouses, Carl A. Thalhofer, then James (Jim) H. Strauss; parents, Charles A. and Hazel C. Watzek; siblings, Mary Ellen Romine, Jo Ann Watzek, Thomas A. Watzek, and Charles S. Watzek; nephew, Kenneth A. Watzek; and nieces Leila K. Gaskil and Tanya Watzek.
