Betty E. Murray, 95, of Washington, died Friday, February 5, 2021, at her home, where she lived independently. She was born November 1, 1925 in Wellsburg, WV, the daughter of the late Franklin Minton and Alice Moore Knox. Betty was retired from Washington Hospital in 1988, where she worked as a Nurse’s Aide. She was a member of Friendship Community Church, where she sang in the church choir, and often sang solos. She would often visit nursing homes to sing for the residents. Betty loved to crochet, do word search puzzles, and read. On September 24, 1943, Betty married Clyde R. Murray, who died March 14, 1993. Surviving are 3 children; daughter Sherry (Frank) Holuta, of Indiana, PA; son Charles (Diane Kurtz) Murray, of Atlasburg; daughter Darla (Michael) McCauley of Washington; daughters-in-law Judy Murray and Karen Murray; 7 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren. She is also predeceased by a daughter Judy Murray; and 3 sons Clyde “Butch” Murray Jr., Larry Murray, and William Murray. Betty is the last survivor of her siblings; 3 brothers and 2 sisters are deceased. She loved her family and children. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, all services are private. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Washington Area Senior Citizens Center, Meals on Wheels Program, 69 W. Maiden Street, Washington, PA 15301.
