Beryl Medcalf Ullom

Beryl Medcalf Ullom, 97, passed away peacefully at Premier Washington Health Center on May 4, 2021. She was born on August 11, 1923, in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. She was the daughter of the late Samuel and Gerene Evelyn (Mortensen) Medcalf During World War II Beryl met the late Thomas Reed Ullom at a USO dance in Sydney. It was love at first sight and on October 30, 1945, they married. After the war she left her home and family and came by ship to the United States. She became a Naturalized Citizen of the United States in the 1950s. She was a former member of the Overseas Warbrides Club. Being with her family gave her great joy. She loved being surrounded by them. She was a talented knitter and sewer. She used those skills to contribute to the program that provided knitted hats for the U.S. soldiers in Afghanistan. Beryl is survived by her children, Evelyn Koschik (Bob), Thomas C. Ullom, Robynne J. Sweeney (Jim), John R. Ullom (Denise), Christopher C. Ullom, Matthew T. Ullom (Betty “B.J”). She was preceded in death by her son, David H. Ullom. Grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren: Sean Ullom, his wife Kelley and their son, Christian; Tonya Ullom Meinhardt, her husband Bob and her son, Anthony Edenhart; Dr. Rob Koschik, his wife Maria and their daughters, Domenica, Amelia and Cecelia; John Bumbera, his wife Rumi and their children Luka and Alia Ullom; David Ullom and his son, Caden; Michele Ullom Kennedy, her husband Joe and their daughter Madi; Jenise Ullom and her daughter Kora Jean Ullom; Jordan Ullom and his son Jordan Ullom, Jr.; Jasmine Ullom; Jules Mitchell; Adam Mitchell; Derek Sweeney, his wife Autumn and their children Caden, Laura and Emma. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Shirley Gisoni and Marie Ullom. Beryl was a charter member of the Washington Presbyterian Church. Mom loved her church and the Lord. She was able to participate for many years until her health made it difficult. A Memorial/Funeral Service will be held at Washington Presbyterian Church, 100 Humbert Lane, Washington, Pa. 15301 on Friday May 21, 2021, at 1:00 p.m. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Phil Amaismeier. We will be following CDC guidelines of masks and social distancing. Following the service internment will be at Forest Lawn Gardens, 3739 Washington Rd, Canonsburg, PA. 15317 In lieu of flowers please send donations to the Washington Presbyterian Church, 100 Humbert Lane, Washington, PA 15301 in her memory.
