Bernard L. Mikuta, 88, of Washington, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on December 11, 2022. He was born to the late Raymond J. and Joanna (Jay) Kruczek Mikuta on October 23, 1934. He was a 1952 graduate of Trinity High School. Bernie was married for more than 53 years to the late Carol Behringer Mikuta. Their lives together focused on the family, always lending a helping hand, and never missing any of their children’s and grandchildren’s activities. Being a devout Christian, he found great support in his lifelong faith journey at Immaculate Conception Church (St. James Parish) in Washington. Exhibiting a strong work ethic, he was employed for over 43 years at Washington Steel Corp, while also working part-time for Sears in the tool and appliance department. Along with his generosity, he will be remembered for his meticulous attention to detail, especially the care and maintenance of his home and property. He was an avid fan of all sports, but especially of the Steelers and Pirates. Bernie leaves behind two dedicated daughters, Christine Mikuta, of Washington and Janet (Albert) Aloia, of McMurray; grandchildren, Kent (Esther) Aloia, of Bethel Park and Julie (Joshua) Pace, of Cranberry Township; great grandchildren include, Brielle and Brayden Pace, twins, Elena and Preston Aloia, and little brother, Luca Aloia. Deceased is a brother, Raymond A. Mikuta, of Washington. Bernie’s family would like to express sincere gratitude for the warmth and compassion of his caretakers, who enabled him to live independently in his home during his final year. Friends and family will be received on Sunday, December 18, 2022, from 2 p.m. until 4 p.m. and 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave., Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 19, 2022, in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 119 West Chestnut St., Washington. Burial will follow in Queen of Heaven Cemetery in McMurray.
