Angelo J. Alberta

Angelo J. Alberta, 79, of Washington, died Monday, March 19, 2018, in Southmont of Presbyterian Senior Care. He was born April 9, 1938, in Washington, a son of the late Joseph Alberta and Mary Sonson Alberta. Mr. Alberta graduated from Washington High School in 1956.  He served in the Navy for eight years before joining the Air Force and Air Force Reserves to work as an aircraft mechanic, retiring as a Technical Sergeant with 27 years of service.   A decorated veteran, Mr. Alberta had 35 years of combined active and reserve service.  In addition to being an aircraft mechanic in the Air Force, Mr. Alberta worked as a civilian aircraft mechanic for the government. Angelo loved his family, which was his #1 priority.  He liked people and enjoyed watching the Steelers and Abbott and Costello movies. Mr. Alberta was a member of Immaculate Conception Church. On October 20, 1960, he married Shirley Agnew, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Kenneth J. (Debra) Alberta of Washington and Mark D. (Deborah) Alberta of New Eagle; and two grandchildren, Shelby Marie Alberta of Washington and Brayden Angelo Alberta of New Eagle. Friends will be received on Friday from 5 till 8 p.m., in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington.  A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m., Saturday, March 24th, in Immaculate Conception Church.  Entombment will follow in Washington Cemetery.  Military rites will be accorded at the cemetery chapel by American Legion Edwin Scott Linton Post 175.
