Albina M. Strnisha

Albina Marie ‘Bea’ Strnisha, 91, of Washington, died on Saturday, May 5, 2018. She was born in Washington on March 16, 1927 to the late Martin Malcolm and Elizabeth (Mastnock) Evans.  Beanie attended Wolfdale Elementary School and graduated from Trinity High School in 1945 with the ‘war class’.     After graduation, she worked at a war plant on East Maiden Street where she inserted pins into hand grenades until the war ended and then worked at the G. C. Murphy store before getting a job at Tygart Valley Glass Company checking ware. On September 5, 1948 she married Martin Francis ‘Moe’ Strnisha and they shared 62 years of marriage before his passing on February 6, 2011. Bea, along with her husband Moe, was a member of SNPJ Lodge 617, the Washington Senior Citizens Center bowling and dart ball teams and Friendship Community Church.  She was a past member of the North Franklin Township Volunteer Fire Company Ladies Auxiliary where she enjoyed working the food tent at the annual Firemen’s Fair.  She also liked solving the daily Observer-Reporter crossword puzzles. The family is thankful for the excellent care that both Moe and Bea received from Dr. Mark Mamros and his staff. Surviving are five children – Jan, John and Marty (Helen) of Washington, Jim (Su) of Maryland and Nancy (Mike) Rexroad of Virginia; grandchildren Jae (Dee), Amanda and Jonya Strnisha, Johnathan and Jennifer Rexroad, and Sheena (Mike) Marshall; three great-grandchildren; and brother Jim Evans and sister Vi Tustin both of Washington. A son, Martin Francis Strnisha, Jr. and a daughter, Janice Marie Strnisha, died in infancy. Deceased in addition to her husband Moe and children Martin Jr. and Janice are brothers Karl and Harry Evans.    Friends will be received from 2 to 7 PM on Tuesday, May 8 at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 10 AM on Wednesday, May 9 with Pastor Rick Bruckner officiating.  Burial will follow at the Washington Cemetery.
