Albert Duane Rasel, 86, of Washington, died November 4, 2023, in the Washington Hospital. He was born July 23, 1937, in Lone Pine, the son of the late Albert Dean and Edith Sowers Rasel. Mr. Rasel proudly served in the US Army and Reserves, having served faithfully and honorably, and was retired on July 23, 1997, with the rank of Sergeant First Class. He was a maintenance supervisor at the US Army Reserve base. Albert was a member of the VFW (Washington)- Lifetime Member, Anawanda Club- Lifetime Member, Disabled Veterans- Lifetime Member, American Legion Post 175, and Prosperity Hunting & Fishing Club. He enjoyed traveling, playing cards, especially poker and Chinese Rum, watching westerns on tv, and playing slot machines at the casino. On November 4, 1996, Albert married Judith Ann Pavlick Hanam. They were married for 23 years, until her death on January 25, 2020 He is survived by his stepdaughter, Dr. Jamielynn (Dr. Jonathan Jahr) Hanam-Jahr; brother, Jim Rasel; grandchildren, Jacob Jahr, and Rachel Jahr; nephew, John Kelley; great-niece, Caitlin Kelley Kemp; great-nephews, Bryan, Evan, and Kyle McWreath, and Liam Kelley; and close and special cousins, Edna Barnhart, and Chandra Rasel. Albert was preceded in death by his sisters, Margaret Rasel and Ruth Kelley, and stepbrothers, Frank McCoy, and Boyd McCoy. Family and friends will be received Saturday, November 11, 2023, 11am until 1 pm, followed by the service at 1pm. Interment will be in Grandview Cemetery, Monessen, PA. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 175, and the Army.
