Alan L. Harps

Alan “Howie” Harps, 72, of Washington, died April 1, 2023, in UPMC Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born September 20, 1950, in Washington, the son of the late Paul and Shirley Frye Harps. A 1968 graduate of Trinity High School, Alan worked for Alex E. Paris Contracting Company, and was a bartender. Mr. Harps was an Army Veteran, serving during the Vietnam Era. He was an avid sports fan, especially the Steelers, and enjoyed watching Jeopardy on tv. Alan was a member of Avery Methodist Church. He is survived by a son, Randy Harps; sisters, Barbara (Alan) DePaoli, Janice Neff, Vicky Harps, Bylle Davidson, and Kimberly (William) Pareso; and several nieces and nephews. Family and friends will be received Tuesday, April 11, 2023, 1-3 pm, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, followed by a service at 3 pm. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Crabtree-Kovacicek Veterans House, 84 W. Wheeling Street, Washington, PA 15301.
