Alan George Collins, Sr., 71, of Washington, passed away on September 28, 2021, in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh. He was born on December 10, 1949, in Washington, a son of the late John Lee and Mohannahas Naomi Collins. He attended Westinghouse High School in Pittsburgh. Mr. Collins worked as a direct care aide. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, where he worked as a small armed proof director during the Vietnam War. Alan loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed spending time at the casino. He loved family gatherings and cookouts, and any time spent with his family. On October 20, 2016, he married Belinda Jane Sutton, who survives. In addition to his wife, Belinda, he is survived by a son, Alan George (Leesa) Collins, Jr., of Canonsburg; four daughters, Shirley (Babar) Iqbal, of Fort Myers, FL, Malika (Charles) Parks, of Washington, Nicole Myles, of Virginia Beach, VA, and Sarah Lynne (Heath) Whitaker, of Washington; brothers, Ruben (Darlene) Collins and Florian (Debbie) Collins; sisters, Naoma Collins, Patricia (Gilbert) Johnson, Cecilia McBryde, Elena Collins, Belinda Collins, and Marlow Igles; sister-in-law, Brenda Collins: and a host of grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a son, Gilbert Wyatt Collins; grandson, Alan David Brown; brothers, John Lee Collins, Jr., Payton Collins, and Norman Collins; sisters, Thernas Strong, Martha Mann, and Regina Collins. A service will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021, at 10:30 a.m., in the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, 1158 Morgan Rd., Bridgeville, PA. Everyone is asked to please meet at the cemetery. Military honors will be accorded by American Legion Post 175.
