Ada Louise Gardner Collum

March 29, 1929 — July 5, 2020

Ada Louise Gardner Collum, 91, of East Killingly, Ct. died peacefully at home July 5th 2020, following a 15 month illness with breast cancer. She was born March 29, 1929 in Washington County, Pa., a daughter of Harold H. and Sarah Strawn Gardner. She was employed several years at numerous glass factories as an inspector and packer. Ada retired from the Maintenance Dept.as a painter at Washington Hospital in Washington, Pa. Upon retiring she worked part time as a live-in caregiver. Ada loved family time, enjoyed teaching the grandkids how to ride a yankee jumper down over the hills. She loved cooking, gardening, loved the birds and flowers. She was an enthusiastic traveler, and acquired the nickname, “The Sailing Bird Louise.” She cherished a pet she once owned, “Peanuts” the billy goat. Her most favorite past time was enjoying a pitcher of beer with a pizza. She is survived by a daughter Linda Robillard (Donnie). Three step-children, Jackie Gould, Patty Morrison (Clyde), and Richard Collum (Maureen). Grandchildren MaryJane Bishop (Nicole), Winona Berdine, Shawna Ray (Jess), Judah, Robbie, Trevor, Dustin, and Stacy. Great grandchildren, Adam, Kaci, Janelle, Bailey, Ben, and great-great grandchildren Autumn and Bryce. Also surviving are two sisters, Mary Bobik, of Washington, Pa., Patricia Okorn, of Dayville, Ct., three cousins, Marjorie Young, Linda Thomas, and Nancy Byrd all of Washington, Pa., several nieces and nephews, and good friend David Charbonneau of Dayville, Ct. She is pre-deceased by a daughter Mary Roberta Jane Henry, husband Alvin Collum, brothers, Roy and Elgy Gardner, and sister Helen Virginia Victorick. The family wishes to thank Hartford Health Care At Home, Palliative and Hospice Care, and Ct. Senior Resources for all of their exceptional services provided in the time of need. A very special thank you to Ellen M. for the best of care to Ada and family during the last year. Interment to be at Claysville Cemetery. At request of family, services will be held at a later date.
