Helen Doudna

Helen Felecia Kelley Doudna, 101, of Washington, died Friday, November 21, 2008, in Humbert Lane Personal Care Home. She was born September 28, 1907, in Footdale, Fayette County, a daughter of Robert Harry and Eva Reckner Kelley. She was a beautician who had her own shop in the Washington Trust Building. Until her death, she was the oldest member of Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church, where she was a member of the Fellowship Class. Mrs. Doudna had taught Elementary Sunday School, the Dorcus Sunday School class and Bible School and was involved with Release Time, a child evangelism program, and Women’s Aglow at the church. Her husband, Chester Edgerton Doudna, died January 11, 2000. Surviving are a son, Chester E. (Sandy) Doudna, II of Monroeville; three daughters, Faith (Charles) Hawkins of Washington, Ann (John) Luzier of Washington, and Susan Katreeb of Bethel Park; nine grandchildren, Charles Hawkins III, Jennifer Conwell, Christopher Hawkins, Carrie Creech, Beth Ross, Melissa Brezinski, Sheri McNall, Richard Katreeb II, and Nichole McAnany; and 23 great-grandchildren. Deceased are a son, John Kelley Doudna, who died in infancy; a grandson, John Luzier; a brother, Ralph Kelley; and four sisters, Leona Show, Thelma Kelley, Iva Day and Frances Gordon. Friends will be received 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 3 and 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, November 24th, with Rev. John Hoffman officiating. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Jefferson Avenue United Methodist Church Memorial Fund, 160 Jefferson Avenue, Washington PA 15301.
