Bernard Neal Eckert

Local mechanic enjoyed fishing and camping. Bernard Neal Eckert, 52, of Washington, died Monday, April 20, 2009, in Washington Hospital. He was born August 15, 1956, in Canonsburg, a son of Cora O'Bryan Eckert of Washington and the late Bernard N. Eckert. Mr. Eckert worked as a mechanic in various local garages. He enjoyed fishing and camping. Mr. Eckert was Protestant. On February 14, 2008, he married Susan Jean Neel, who survives. Also surviving are three sons, Brian Eckert, Justin Eckert and Matthew Eckert, and a daughter, Stacie Flint, all of Washington; a brother, Daniel O'Bryan of Washington; two sisters, Lea Bonus of Washington and Shirley Seymour of West Virginia; and six grandchildren. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., the hour of service, Saturday, April 25, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, with Pastor Duane Durham officiating.
