Jonathan S. Martin, 40, of Washington, PA, died Wednesday, December 28, 2005. Jonathan died pursuing his passion and profession as a pilot. He worked for 10 years for Aero National, Inc., and recently began flying for Skyward Aviation, of Washington, PA.
Jonathan attended Mt. Lebanon High School before moving to Houston, TX, where he graduated from Westchester High School and attended the University of Texas at Austin. He was a cabinetmaker, volunteer fireman and paramedic before becoming a pilot.
He will be remembered as a wonderful man with an exuberance for life. He touched many lives in his too brief time on earth. He leaves to mourn his loss four much-loved children, Amy, A.J., Caity and Kelly Martin who live with their mother, Nancy Martin, all of Prosperity, PA. His loving extended family includes sisters Ann Criss, Cathy Martin, (both of Pittsburgh) Sally Balthaser (Sugar Land, TX), Lisa Martin (Washington, DC), and a brother, Paul Martin (Cleveland, OH), as well as numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, Ashley J. and Mary Lu (Shumaker) Martin, of Washington, PA.
Memorial visitation to be held Tuesday, January 3, 2006, from 7 – 9 pm and Wednesday, from 2 – 4 pm and 7 – 9 pm in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, PA. A Memorial Service to celebrate his life will be held Saturday, January 7, 2006, at 1 pm, at the Upper Ten Mile Presbyterian Church, Route 18 South, Prosperity, PA.
