Raymond De Hassinger, 74, of Washington, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, May 23, 2007. He was born on April 4, 1933, in Uniontown, PA, a son of Leroy and Sara Pearl Lake Hassinger.
Mr. Hassinger worked as an telephone installer for Bell Telephone and Verizon.
He was a member of the First Christian Church.
He enjoyed helping others at all times, and was very active in all church activities.
Mr. Hassinger was a veteran of the United States Army from June 18, 1953 until June 20, 1961. For his service, he received the National Defense Service Medal.
On June 20, 1954, he married Esther Hatfield, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Alan (Valerie) Hassinger, of Amity, PA; a daughter, Barbara (James) Benson, of Canonsburg; 2 brothers, Clarence Hassinger, of Mercer, PA and Donald Hassinger, of Washington, DC.; a sister, Evabelle Rishel, of Columbus, OH; 4 grandchildren, Nelson and JoRae Hassinger, and Bradley and Justin Benson.
Deceased are a grandchild and 2 brothers, Frank and Leroy Hassinger.
Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m.. at the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Ave, Washington, PA 15301, where services will be held on Saturday at 3:00 p.m., with Dr. David Felty officiating.
Burial will follow at the Washington Cemetery.
