Genevieve M. Lis, 91, of Washington, died at 8:30 a.m. Friday, January 27, 2006, in McMurray Hills Manor. She was born January 13, 1915, in Washington, a daughter of Blaine J. and Rose M. Washinsky Zembrosky. Mrs. Lis was a homemaker and lifelong member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Washington. She had worked as an inspector at Tygart Valley Glass. She enjoyed cooking, gardening and her family. On February 3, 1946, she married Julius "Bud" Lis, who died April 16, 2002. Surviving are two sons, James "Jay-Jay" (Janet) Lis of Washington and Regis (Gail) Lis of Parkersburg, W.Va.; and a niece, Sharon Pruett of West Palm Beach, Fla. Deceased are a sister, Eleanor Szymborski, and a niece and nephew.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Sunday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday, January 30, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, with the Rev. Thomas D. O'Neil as celebrant. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, 340 Henderson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301.
