James William Hodgens, 73, of Washington, died Sunday, September 28, 2008, in Washington County Health Center, following a brief illness.
He was born October 23, 1934, in Taylorstown, a son of Verne O. and Margaret Elizabeth Rush Hodgens.
He graduated from Claysville High School and was a member of Fourth United Presbyterian Church.
Mr. Hodgens enjoyed family and friends, cars, reading and history.
For 39 years he worked as a steel worker at Jessop Steel Company.
On July 10, 1969, he married Priscilla Mirto, who survives.
Also surviving are a son, Kevin Hodgens, of Washington; two daughters, Karen (Larry Naylor) Cantaral, of Eighty-Four, and Kim (Ronald Getz) Tallarico, of Washington; three step-daughters, Pamela (Thomas) Tarr, of Washington, Tamela (Ricky) Stamm, of Canonsburg, and Virginia (George) Grosheim, of Del Ray Beach, FL; two brothers, Robert V. (Betty W.) Hodgens, and Charles E. Hodgens, both of Washington; a sister, Betty Ann (Andrew) Vickers, of Davidsonville, MD; four grandchildren, Walter, Faith, Logan, and Sierra; six step grandchildren; one great grandchild and five step great grandchildren.
Deceased are two children, Kathy and Jimmy Hodgens; and a step grandchild, Thomas E. Tarr, Jr.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Wednesday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue. The time of the service and place of burial will be announced in a later edition.
