Nellie Zollars, 91, of Washington, died at 3:25 p.m. Tuesday, January 10, 2006, in Washington Hospital following a brief illness. She was a resident of Evergreen Assisted Living in Washington. She was born January 8, 1915, in Klasper, W.Va., a daughter of Regina Bobik Wozniak. Mrs. Zollars had worked in the etching department of Duncan Miller Glass. She also cleaned homes in East Washington. Mrs. Zollars was an active member of St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church and a member of its Christian Mothers. She enjoyed sewing and baking. On September 29, 1935, she married Charles David Zollars, who died June 16, 1987. Surviving are two sons, John W. Zollars (Dorothy) of Washington and Robert D. Zollars (Mary Jo) of Erie; three daughters, Geraldine (Charles) Eckert of Ashland, Ohio, Elizabeth Dimmick of Herndon, Va., and Virginia (Stanley) Krenzelak of Prosperity; a stepdaughter, Billie (Lee) Robinson of Hickory; a brother, Rudy Bobick of Washington; 14 grandchildren, Michele Benner, Valerie Grabowski, Michael Zollars, Chris Eckert, Eric Eckert, Scott Zollars, Dianne Robertson, Jason Krenzelak, Tisa Krenzelak, Seth Krenzelak, Logan Krenzelak, Jennifer Dimmick, Lindsey Dimmick, and Courtney Dimmick; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Deceased are three brothers, Joseph Bobik, Theodore Wozniak, and Tony Wozniak; and a sister, Sabina Popeck.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, January 13, in St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, Washington, with the Rev. Thomas D. O'Neil as celebrant. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Hilary Roman Catholic Church, 320 Henderson Avenue, Washington, PA 15301, or to a charity of the donor's choice.
