Gertrude A. Brehl

Gertrude A. Brehl, 87, of Pittsburgh, died at 8:30 a.m. Sunday, August 7, 2005, in Canonsburg General Hospital, after an eight-month illness. She was born December 26, 1917, in Washington, a daughter of Joseph and Mary Lena Heidelmeier Brehl. She was a 1935 Immaculate Conception High School graduate. Miss Brehl was an administrative assistant for First Boston Corp. of New York City, N.Y. She was previously employed at the U.S. Treasury Department in the International Monetary Fund in Washington D.C., during which time she traveled extensively in Europe and South America. Her interests included oil and water-color painting. Miss Brehl was a member of St. Mary of Mercy Church, Pittsburgh. Surviving are two sisters, Margaret Brock of Garfield Heights, Ohio, and Florence Ramsey of Washington; 11 nieces and nephews; and numerous great-nieces and nephews. Deceased are four brothers, Joseph, Carl, Harry and Clarence Brehl; and a sister, Helen Findlay. Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 10, in Immaculate Conception Church, Washington, with the Rev. Edward Czemerda as celebrant. Burial will follow in Immaculate Conception Cemetery.
