Janet Ruth Mazza, 57, of Washington, died Wednesday, September 17, 2008, in Montefiore Hospital, Pittsburgh, following a lengthy illness.
She was born in Washington on August 1, 1951, a daughter of the late Roy T. and Ruth Brownlee Blacka.
Mrs. Mazza was a graduate of Washington High School and worked more than twenty years as an insurance agent for the Weaver Insurance Agency in Washington prior to her retirement. She enjoyed crafting, sewing, quilting, and spending time with her grandchildren.
She was a longtime member of the Glenn Street Free Methodist Church and had not only taught Sunday School, she was involved in many church related activities and committee’s.
On January 2, 1971, she married Louis R. Mazza who survives. Also surviving are, a son Dominick L. ( Candi ) Mazza of Washington; two daughters, Maggie ( Matt ) Aquaro of Matthews, North Carolina, and Valerie ( Justin ) Zenner of Warren, Ohio; a brother Douglas Blacka of Virginia Beach, Virginia; six grandchildren, Kayleigh and Anthony Mazza, Olivia, Annie, and Joey Aquaro, and Natalie Zenner.
Friends of Janet Ruth Mazza, 57, of Washington, who died Wednesday, September 17, 2008, will be received on Saturday from 7 to 9 PM and Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 PM in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, ltd., 925 Allison Avenue. An additional period of visitation will be held on Monday from 9 to 11 AM in the Glenn Street Free Methodist Church, 690 Glenn Street, Washington, where services will be held at 11:00 AM. Burial will follow in Washington Cemetery. The family is requesting donations be made to the Glenn Street Free Methodist Church Memorial Fund.
