Carl L. " Tumbug " Comer

Carl L. “ Tumbug “ Comer, 75, of Washington, died Friday, November 4, 2005, in the Washington Hospital, surrounded by his family, following a lengthy illness. He was born in Washington on May 24, 1930, a son of Walter Roy and Elsie Leona Howell Comer. Mr. Comer once worked at Washington Rubber Company and later for the City of Washington Street Department for 21 years prior to retiring. Additionally, he was a Constable in the 8th Ward for more than 25 years. On December 12, 1964, he married Karen Hughes who survives. Also surviving are five sons, Leonard and William Comer of Washington, Kenneth ( Sandy ) Comer of Braidwood, Illinois, Carl ( Missy ) Comer of Washington, and John ( Terri ) Comer of Muse; three daughters, Wanda ( Ed) Wagner of Lone Pine, Elizabeth “ Liz “ Comer of Washington, and Tammie ( Walt ) Brodak of Charleroi; fourteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; three brothers, Walter, Robert, and Charles Comer, all of Washington; five sisters, Patricia ( Boyd ) Miller of Washington, Dorothy Comer of Washington, Lois ( Ray ) D’Emilio of South Carolina, Joann Davis of Washington, and Darlene Sharrow of Marysville, Michigan. His mother-in-law, Isabell Hughes of Washington also survives. Deceased is a grandson, David D. Comer as well as two brothers, Adam Comer and Petie Angott. Friends of Carl L. “ Tumbug “ Comer, 75, of Washington, who died Friday, November 4, 2005, will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, where services will be held on Monday, November 7, 2005, at 1:00 pm, Rev. John DePolo officiating. Burial will be private and held at the convenience of the family in Washington Cemetery. The family is requesting memorial donations be made to the charity of donors choice.
