Duane C. Johnson, 72, of Washington, died unexpectedly at 4:30 p.m. Monday, October 31, 2005, in his home.
He was born November 4, 1932, in Washington, a son of Michael and Dora Hunt Johnson.
Mr. Johnson graduated from Trinity High School in 1951.
He served in the U.S. Army from February 1953 until Febuary 1955. Mr. Johnson was awarded Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Occupation Medal-Germany.
Mr. Johnson was the founder of D.C. Johnson Garage Door Co. and Duane's Garage Door Service. He retired in 2003.
Mr. Johnson was a member of Living Waters Church of God. He enjoyed playing the steel guitar and played in various local country bands during the 1950s and 1960s. He also enjoyed woodworking and nature and was especially fond of feeding deer and turkey in his back yard.
On July 8, 1955, he married Lillian R. Clemens, who survives, and with whom he celebrated 50 years of marriage.
Also surviving are a brother, Gerald Johnson Sr. of Washington; a sister, Opal (Clark) Rumiser of Kent, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Deceased is a brother, John K. Johnson.
Friends will be received from 7 to 9 p.m. Wednesday and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, November 4, with the Rev. George VanRiper officiating. Burial will follow in National Cemetery of the Alleghenies, Cecil Township.
