Edwin J. Hendricksen

Member of Hickory U.P. Church. Edwin J. Hendricksen, 89, of Hickory, died at 3:50 p.m. Thursday, December 8, 2005, in his home. He was born April 16, 1916, in Jersey City, N.J., a son of Jonathan and Emily Schilling Hendricksen. He was a member of Hickory United Presbyterian Church. He was an ironworker, who worked out of Local 3 in Pittsburgh for more than 50 years. He was a member of Richard Vaux Lodge 454 F&AM and VFW Post 191. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and camping. He was a high school graduate and attended two years of college. During World War II, he served in the Navy Seabees and was stationed in Alaska. On February 28, 1946, he married Lily E. Jenkins, who survives. Also surviving are a son, Ed J. Hendricksen and wife Denise of Hickory; four daughters, Joan and husband Donald Ross of Leesburg, Fla., Dorothy and husband Thomas Jones of North Canton, Ohio, Lily and husband Alan Carol of Weirton, W.Va., and Judee and husband Joe Everly of New Cumberland, W.Va.; 12 grandchildren, Randy, Ronnie, Becky, Jerry, Joe, David, Lily, Pam, Kris, Kathi, Kim and Lorianne; and 29 great-grandchildren. A brother, Howard Hendricksen, died November 17, 2005. Friends will be received by the family from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday in William G. Neal Funeral Homes Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, December 10, with the Rev. Douglas R. Reinard officiating, followed by interment in Mt. Prospect Cemetery, Hickory.
