Velma M. Atchison

Velma M. Atchison, 71, of Eighty-Four, formerly of Gretna Road, Washington, died at 6:05 a.m., Thursday, December 22, 2005, in Canonsburg General Hospital, following a lingering illness. She was born October 29, 1934, in East Finley Township, Washington County, a daughter of Archibald and Rachael Catherine Patterson Bowman. She attended Claysville High School and was a member of First Christian Church in West Alexander Church. Mrs. Atchison enjoyed country western music. She had been employed by Kade Nursing Home, in the housekeeping department. On June 19, 1953, she married Robert L. Atchison, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Terry Lee Atchison, of Canonsburg, and Robert Franklin Atchison, of California; three daughters, Diane (Keith) Baughman and Mary Ann Atchison, all of Eighty Four, and Velma Lynn (William) Kehn, of Arizona; a sister, Mabel Mankey, of Amity, eleven grandchildren, and twenty four great grandchildren. Deceased is a brother, Archibald Bowman, Jr. Friends will be received 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, in William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue, Washington, where services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, December 24, 2005, with the Rev. Bruce W. Graff officiating. Entombment will follow in Forest Lawn Gardens, Chapel Mausoleum, McMurray.
