Douglas R. Hamlin, 56, of Washington, died Saturday, December 2, 2005, in his home following a brief illness. He was born on February 9, 1949, in Welch, West Virginia, a son of the late Douglas F. and Frances Allen Hamlin.
Mr. Hamlin was Catholic by faith. He had served in the United States Air Force for twelve years. For the past 17 years, he worked at the Observer-Reporter Publishing Company, most recently as a Copy Editor. He enjoyed golf, gardening, and spending time with his family.
On August 8, 1970, he married Marilyn Eileen Dugan, who survives. Also surviving are two sons, Shawn Michael ( wife Lindy ) Hamlin and Brian Patrick ( wife Susan ) Hamlin, both of Atlanta, Georgia: and a grandchild, Marlee Hamlin.
Preceding him in death is a brother, Kenley Hamlin.
Friends of Douglas R. Hamlin, 56, of Washington, who died Saturday, December 2, 2005, will be received on Tuesday, from 7 to 9 pm in the William G. Neal Funeral Homes, Ltd., 925 Allison Avenue. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 6, 2005, at 10:00 am in the Immaculate Conception Roman Catholic Church, Washington.
